Protegemos a mujeres víctimas de violencia en Goma, R.D. del Congo
En una guardería conviven los hijos de las jóvenes madres

Women, along with children, are the most vulnerable people in the city of Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, the city that has become the place with the most rapes per day. We have been working since 2006 in this area of the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the aim of accompanying these women and their children in their journey of healing and resilience.

We support the women who are victims of violence by working with the Don Bosco Maison Marguerite Center, which offers hospitality, protection, and assistance. At this home, we offer the women psycho-social support, professional training, and access to microfinance for the development of their own small business. Through employment, the goal is to increase their self-esteem so that they can believe in themselves and better provide for themselves and their children.

The activities that we are developing within the project are:

  1. Accommodation, maintenance, medical and psychological services for 100 women and girls between 12 and 40 years old.
  2. Vocational training for women to access a job after completing the course or the ability to create their own micro-enterprise. For those who want to become women entrepreneurs, we will provide access to microcredit to at last 50 women.
  3. We will work together with families so they know how important it is for their daughters to complete their education. In addition, we will sensitize them about sexual and domestic violence, and how to act or report before local authorities.

Maison Marguerite is the home where these 100 women will live, one of the four houses that make up the Don Bosco Center. It will be their home until they feel they have recovered.

CODESPA continues to empower these girls, single mothers, and young vulnerable women in their journey of healing, resilience, and a better future.

You can help us to make fewer women face this situation every day. Donate and be part of the change.
